Local Author Events

Thank you for your interest in setting up an author event at The Book Cellar. We are a small, independent bookstore in the heart of downtown Abingdon, Virginia, specializing in book clubs, book fairs, and author events.

Because we have such a high demand for author events in our store, with limited time and resources to accommodate every request, we’re currently prioritizing local authors with a pre-existing relationship with our store, or whose books are in high demand with our customers. We require all potential authors to complete this questionnaire so that we can determine if your book is a good match for our community, and whether we will be able to accommodate an event.

To ensure a successful event, The Book Cellar expects authors to conduct their own publicity campaign by reaching out to friends, family, and the local media. The following questions will help us gauge your participation level for publicity.

RESPONSE TIME: We receive inquiries each month, and typically book events 2-3 months in advance. Due to high demand, we will only respond if we feel your event is a good fit for our store.
