Kids Book Event – Stone Soup by Annie Parsons

Everyone brings something to the table in this fresh take on the classic tale of collaboration, community, and soup.

When a hungry traveler comes to visit, villagers are reluctant to part with their meager harvest. A local girl cooks up a plan to get everyone working together, starting with one “magic” stone. As the townspeople combine their vegetables into a colorful and satisfying soup, they learn the power of sharing with their neighbors. With bright watercolor and collage illustrations, simple text, gentle humor, and nods to famous paintings from history, Stone Soup is a read-aloud that kids and parents can enjoy over and over again.

Annie Parsons is an author, illustrator, and educator from Southwest Virginia. She works in a public library, where she hosts story time every week. When she’s not drawing, reading, or making up stories, Annie enjoys playing video games and cooking with her family (she loves to make soup). Stone Soup is her first picture book.
